A high court ruling has overturned the decision that the Paul Briggs vs Danny Green fight was fixed after Briggs went down from an innocuous punch just 29 seconds into the opening round of their IBO world title fight on July 21 in Perth. Three high court judges voted on the case.
“It’s been ruled the fight was legitimate and 5 weeks preparation was insufficient time to prepare after 3.5 yrs off. Green not allowing a warm up fight and making me drop from 94kg to 84kg when the cruiserweight limit is 90kg,” said Briggs.
“I’ve NEVER DOGGED a fight in my life and am proud not only of my career but my integrity throughout it!”
“Thank you to my legal team to Billy Hussein and my solid as FUCK mates Don Fakary, Pete Stanton, James Harvey, Terry Searlis and Daryl Grundy,” concluded Briggs.
Following the fight Briggs had $75,000 of his $200,000 purse withheld but is expected to receive that back following the high court’s ruling.
