Lauryn Eagle made it three victories over Nicki Bigwood recording a split decision victory on the David Tua vs. Alexander Ustinov undercard on Saturday night in Hamilton, New Zealand.
“Every fight has been tough against her, she comes forward all the time,” Eagle said. “She’s always a courageous opponent and I have a lot of respect for her.”
Eagle had Bigwood hurt in the closing seconds of round one after catching her with a big right hand, but Eagle seemed reluctant to trade with the Kiwi at times despite having success when she stood and traded with Bigwood.
“I remember from the last fight that she keeps coming forward on you so you make a mistake. I guess I have worked in the last eight weeks on my skill. I have learned a lot on footwork and counter punching,” she continued.
The judges were split with their decision, (60-55, 57-58, 60-54) with Aus-Boxing.com scoring the fight a draw.
