Speaking to Adam Auld of Aus-Boxing.com post fight undefeated Australian Light Heavyweight, Blake Caparello revealed that he has been after the fight with Berridge for a while.

“It was a tough night at the office but I walked away with a win,” said Caparello.

“I’ve wanted Robert Berriage for a long time; it’s a fight we wanted. It was two undefeated fighters, he is a young up and comer so am I but one of us had to go.”

“I always plan to go the distance, if it didn’t it didn’t but I was ready for a 10 round war.”

Caparello who is now 12-0 feels that it’s time in his career to step up.

“I don’t want too many more fights this year,” Caparello said. “I want to step up each fight. I just want to keep on stepping up like I have all of my career. I have a good team behind me, that’s all we plan to do.”

“I want to fight Samoan, Warren Fuiava or whoever wants to step-up, I’m ready.”

After claiming a comfortable decision win over Joel Casey, undefeated Cruiserweight-Brad ‘Hollywood’ Pitt revealed to Adam Auld of Aus-Boxing.com after the fight that he wasn’t at his best.

“I didn’t have the best time,” said Pitt. “I need to work on my fitness. I am still going through a phase where I put everything into every punch.”

Although he was gunning for the knockout Pitt said that he foresaw the decision win.

“Before the fight I thought it was going to go the distance. I knew he was tough and was gonna come forward, my plan was just to dominant every round and if the knockout came it came.”

“I reckon in the second round I hit him with a couple of good ones, I cut him open. He actually bounced up quicker than he went down. I was a bit shocked by it, he was a tough kid.”

A week or two of rest is now on the cards for Pitt who is chasing a world title shot for later in the year.

“I’m going to go home and have a week or two off, maybe a week,” Pitt said. “I’ll hopefully step it up from there. I haven’t fought since November last year; I’ve got the rounds now.”

“The plan is by the end of the year, or by early next year, to be shopping around for a world title.”

“I’m disappointed for the Melbourne people,” Hudson told Aus-Boxing.com. “Will started a bit slow, the pressure got to him a little bit, but he started to find his range about round 3.”

“I’m sure in the next 2-3 rounds he would have broken him down. There is nothing we can do about the circumstances but Will was shattered that it ended the way it did.”

When asked about a rematch Hudson said, “I think it’s gotta be looked at. Because, he (Ruiz) didn’t do anything to lose the fight this way. And I think a rematch has got to be considered.”

“I don’t think it was fair on Ruiz. I’m pretty confident we won every round. But that is not the issue, the issue is it could have gone either way, I don’t think it would have but it could have.”

After a power cut at the venue put a stop to Mexican, Daniel Ruiz’s IBO world title fight with Australian, Will Tomlinson live on Fox Sports which he subsequently lost on the scorecards after round 7, the Mexican told Aus-Boxing.com that he would welcome a rematch in Australia.

“I understand the rules, things like this happen,” Ruiz told Aus-Boxing.com post fight. “I felt as though I was coming on. I was going to use the later rounds to try to corner Will and hopefully hurt him with my power. “

“Rules are rules but I would welcome a rematch, I have been treated very well.”

“It was a good fight in my mind, I was never hurt. I like the way the Australian people have treated me. I would return in an instant.”

Referee Steve Smoger explained the situation. “The IBO rules call for, that if there is an unforeseen circumstance such as the fan man in Las Vegas or things of that nature, we go to the cards.”

“Seven rounds were completed, they went to the cards and Ruiz and his trainer Luis Gonzalez don’t have any problem with that.”

‘Wild’ Will Tomlinson has successfully defended his IBO Super Featherweight title on Friday night at the Melbourne but it was all drama early in round 8. A power blackout at the venue saw the feed get cut on Fox Sports and the fight was called to an end with Tomlinson winning on the scorecards (70-62, 70-62, 69-63).

Tomlinson pushed the pace in round 1, coming out of the blocks aggressive making his mark on the fight. Late in the opening round, Tomlinson dropped Ruiz with a big left hook, but the Mexican was able to make it to the end of the round. After eating an accidental elbow in the last few seconds of round 2, Tomlinson came out head hunting in round 3 and Ruiz was caught with a good combination.

As we saw in Tomlinson’s last fight he was cut over his left eye once again. After receiving a left hook at the start of round 5, Tomlinson slipped and hit the canvas but it was correctly ruled a slip. Ruiz who began to get desperate let his shots go, but Tomlinson picked his shots and teed off on the Mexican.

After Tomlinson unloaded on Ruiz late in round 6, the Mexican was caught flush on the chin with a Tomlinson right hand and was wobbly on his feet, but the bell saved Ruiz who was almost out on his feet.

After Tomlinson dominated the early stages of round 8 the power cut at the venue put an end to the fight.
